The President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) CK Khanna on Monday hailed the decision to appoint Sourav Ganguly as the new President of the cricket governing body.

"It is a matter of great pride that former India captain Sourav Ganguly is now set to lead as president of BCCI with his vast experience as a cricketer and as former India captain," Khanna told ANI.

'He will lead BCCI to new heights'

CK Khanna also said that Ganguly will take the BCCI to new heights and take dynamic decisions for the body.

"Also, he is a member of CAC and president of CAB. He will lead BCCI to new heights and I am confident that he will take dynamic decisions because BCCI's past few years had faced a tough time. We are confident that under his leadership his entire team will do a great job during his tenure. I wish all the very best to Sourav and his team," Khanna said.

'It's a great opportunity for me to do something good'

Sourav Ganguly is set to be the BCCI President as he emerged as a consensus candidate for the post on Monday. The President-elect said that it is a great feeling for him as he has played and captained for the country. He also said that it's a great opportunity for him to do something good as the image of the BCCI has hampered.

"And I am taking over at a time when BCCI has not been in greatest of position for the last three years. Its image has got hampered quite a lot. It's a great opportunity for me to do something good," the former captain said.

Earlier, Ganguly said that he will bring about a change in the board. Promising a change in the board, the former captain said:

"If I am finally elected my priorities are clear. It will be only cricket and not politics around it. Indian cricket has suffered a lot from an administrative point of view. Cricketers must not suffer because of this."
