India spinner Kuldeep Yadav aims to regain his place in the national cricket team soon. He has been out of favour for a while. Though he is a part of the current Test squad against South Africa, he has not been able to cement a place in the starting 11 with the presence of the ace spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. He accepts that he is going through a patchy period in his international cricket career. Kuldeep, alongside Yuzvendra Chahal, were also sidelined for the two T20I series against West Indies and South Africa.

Cricket news

In an interview with a leading media portal, Kuldeep said that he has been playing international cricket for three years now and expects tougher challenges. He is confident of a return to the side with hard work and discipline. The 24-year-old shocked the world when he routed Australia on his Test debut in Dharmasala in 2017. He also became the third Indian to take a hat-trick in ODIs. He was also a part of India's squad in the 2019 World Cup.

International career

Kuldeep has played 6 test matches with 24 wickets to his credit. However, he has not been able to cement his place in the longest format of the game consistently. He played 53 one day internationals with 96 wickets to his name. He also has an impressive record in T20 Internationals, with 35 wickets in 18 matches. He has been considered as a great asset for the national team in the spin department in limited-overs cricket.

IPL career

Yadav was handed an Indian Premier League contract in 2012 by the Mumbai Indians, but he failed to make the playing XI in his debut season, despite making headlines for beating Sachin Tendulkar with his googly in the nets. He was transferred to the Kolkata Knight Riders two years later but still failed to play a game. 2018 saw him making rapid strides at the international level and IPL also saw him creating ripples. He got his first Man of the Match award in an IPL game in the same edition as well. Against RR, Kuldeep bowled a spell of 4 for 20 to script a fine win for KKR.
