Sundar Raman's role in India's position in ICC
The report also states Raman’s formal official position or an external advisory function is yet to be resolved. Raman, an expert in the international cricket market was one of the authors of the ICC Position Paper gave India, England and Australia a higher revenue share in the ICC. India Cricket News: Sourav Ganguly on getting BCCI back in ICC
Earlier, Ganguly said that BCCI needs to be back to where it belongs in ICC. He said that BCCI is so important to the ICC since it not only generates the funds; which is one part but the popularity of the game matters. India is unbelievable and has a huge role to play in the ICC and the board needs to be respected which at the moment is not happening.
BCCI bats against ICC Future Tours Programme
Recently, ICC proposed Futures Tours Programme (FTP) which proposes eight global events in the next eight-year cycle (from 2023). The new proposal calls for World T20 every year and 50-over World Cup every three years, which is being looked as ICC's plan to enter the global media rights markets for the 2023-2028 period. The move could significantly hit the Indian cricket board's revenue stream and it believes that it is against the members' interest. The report further states that newly-elected president Ganguly has opposed the new FTP saying that sometimes less is more in life. So, we have to be careful about that.
