Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been one of the most successful IPL teams with arguably the highest number of fans in the history of the tournament. They are the second most successful team in the league with three titles after Mumbai Indians (4). The Chennai franchise had received a two-year franchise as their owners were allegedly involved in the infamous 2013 spot-fixing scandal. Nonetheless, they made their comeback in style by winning their third IPL title in 2018. CSK is captained by the 'Captain Cool' Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has been leading them from the front right from the inception of the league in 2008. Recently, one fan had spread a rumor that CSK will be releasing Dhoni to which he got a befitting response from the franchise.
CSK's befitting reply to a fan
MS Dhoni has been out of action for a while now. He was last seen in action during India's World Cup 2019 semi-final loss against New Zealand in July post which there have been a lot of speculations about his retirement. If that was not enough then there was a fan who had recently claimed that CSK will not be retaining MSD and he will be released. This happened on the same day after the three-time winners had teased their fans by saying 'Releasing Tomorrow' ahead of the deadline of submitting the list of players that have been retained and released.
However, the Chennai Super Kings revealed that they will not be releasing MS Dhoni and at the same time, also gave a befitting reply to the fan.
MS Dhoni's contribution to CSK's success
Under MS Dhoni's reign, Chennai Super Kings have won IPL thrice in 2010, 2011 and 2018 respectively and have finished as the runners-up on five occasions. In fact, CSK is the only team to have featured in the IPL playoffs in all the seasons and have the best win percentage among all teams in the IPL (61.28). Apart from IPL, the MS Dhoni-led side has also won the now-defunct Champions League Twenty20 twice in 2010 and 2014. In the 2019 edition, CSK who were the defending champions agonizingly fell short of retaining their title by just one run against Mumbai Indians who went on to win their record fourth IPL crown.
