Among the many veterans of the game who showed appreciation for Chahar's contribution to the Indian win, two were - Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar. BCCI President Ganguly, in his tweet, acknowledged how it is always hard for a team to bowl in dewy conditions but Chahar still managed to get India through the line. On the other hand, Tendulkar's tweet contained praise for Chahar's variation and the smartness that he exhibited.

India get home after a minor scare
After Bangladesh elected to bowl first, the Indian innings was off to a slow start but got solidified by KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer as the duo helped India to get to a total of 174. In return, Bangladesh looked formidable as their opener Mohammad Naim stitched a 98-run stand with Mohammad Mithun but Deepak Chahar was too much for the Bangladeshis to handle. Chahar ended with a format-best 6/7 along with the first T20I hat-trick by an Indian. He was closely helped by newcomer Shivam Dube, who got three wickets and Yuzvendra Chahal, who got his 50th International T20 wicket in only his 34th T20I match for India.
