World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev, who was served a notice by BCCI for 'Conflict of Interest', shot back at BCCI saying he did not have the time to "look into" or reply to such "negative things in life." On Saturday, Kapil Dev-led Cricket Advisory Committee members were all served notice by BCCI's Ombudsman cum Ethics Officer DK Jain who had also made Rahul Dravid depose before him on Thursday on the same issue of 'Conflict'. The notices were served on the basis of a complaint by Sanjeev Gupta, a life member of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association who alleged that these former members were all in conflict holding more than one position. Earlier, he had held Sourav Ganguly guilty of 'Conflict' but exonerated him, giving him "benefit of the doubt."

"I do not have time for all these negative things. Let the Board decide what they want. They only appointed me for a task. I never requested them. I have not received any letter or notice and I dont have any time to reply to all these." Kapil Dev told Republic TV in a telephonic conversation today.

CAC served with Conflict of Interest notice

The other two CAC member to receive the notice are former India opener Anshuman Gaekwad and former Indian women team captain Shantha Rangaswamy. While Shantha confirmed that she has tendered resignation from CAC in a letter to the BCCI this morning, Anshuman was not available for comments when Republic TV tried to contact him. "I don't understand this conflict but I have tendered resignation anyway," Shantha said adding that it was an honorary one-time adhoc position which is now "defunct in any case." The BCCI Ethics Officer D K Jain on Saturday had sent a notice to CAC, asking the former cricketers who picked the current India coach to respond by October 10

BCCI had appointed CAC members earlier

Interestingly, its the BCCI which had appointed the 3 member- ad-hoc committee to select the Head Coach of Team India, during which all the three members had cleared and clarified their position on conflict of interest. After a satisfactory answer, only BCCI had appointed them. According to BCCI, one cannot hold for than one post in office in any way related to BCCI, State Associations or any committee.  But the big questions is: how can the same body appoint them after clarifying the conflict clause and disqualify on the same ground later.
