Faf du Plessis has been one of South Africa's most valuable players for a long time along with the likes of the retired superstars Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers and the current wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock. Faf, who had started his international cricketing career in 2011 has represented South Africa in 61 Tests, 143 ODI's and 44 T20Is so far. He has also featured for Proteas in three World Cups in 2011, 2015 and 2019 respectively. In fact, du Plessis had led the 'Rainbow Nation' earlier this year as they failed to progress beyond the group stages of the quadrennial event. However, on the occasion of Diwali, the South African skipper has come forward to express his festive greetings to his Indian fans.
Faf's Diwali wish for Indian fans
Taking to the micro-blogging site, Faf du Plessis wished all his Indian followers a happy Diwali.
Even the fans showed respect to the Proteas skipper. Here are some of the reactions.
Faf Du Plessis wants toss to get scrapped for Tests
Earlier, Faf du Plessis, who is South Africa's Test skipper, had suggested doing away with the toss for Test games as it gives the away teams more opportunities to compete better. Faf DuPlessis' suggestion comes in the aftermath of the 3-0 whitewash in the Test series against India, where interestingly Faf DuPlessis could not manage to win the toss despite bringing his vice-skipper to call the toss in the third and final Test. India dominated throughout the Test series and had secured an innings victory in consecutive games to go on top of the Test rankings with 240 points. South Africa's chances in the series were also hampered due to the weather conditions, as the play was stopped early due to bad light followed by rain. The Proteas skipper believes that the away teams would get a better chance to compete if the toss is done away with. Speaking to a website, Faf du Plessis lamented about how India won the toss in the games, chose to bat, score 500 plus runs, declare when its "dark" and then enormous pressure builds on the visitors to get going. Faf du Plessis termed it as a "copy-paste method for every Test" and said that he would not mind if the toss is done away with.
