Gautam Gambhir has congratulated Navdeep Saini for his outstanding performance on international debut against West Indies but also slammed Bishan Singh Bedi and Chetan Chauhan on social media.

Gambhir took to Twitter and wrote that Saini already had two wickets even before he had bowled and those scalps included Bishan Singh Bedi and Chetan Chauhan. The 37-year-old then added that the two former Indian players' middle stumps are gone seeing the debut of a player whose cricketing obituary they wrote even before he stepped on the field.

What made Gambhir criticise Bedi and Chauhan?

In case if you are wondering what has made Gambhir blast out at the two ex-cricketers, then here is what you need to know.

Both Bedi and Chauhan are members of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) who were not convinced with Navdeep Saini. As per reports, the duo did not approve of Gambhir's choice to bring in Saini in the Delhi Ranji Trophy team which must have infuriated the 2011 World Cup-winner.

Team India's new journey after World Cup 2019

Team India made a fresh start post their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 when they locked horns against West Indies in the first T20I at Lauderhill, Florida on Saturday. This match also saw Shikhar Dhawan feature in Indian colours for the first time after the thumb injury which had ruled him out of the quadrennial event. However, all the attention was on young Navdeep Saini who made his international debut.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bowl first. His decision was spot on as his bowlers chipped in with early wickets. He scalped three wickets. In fact, he took two wickets off consecutive deliveries and missed out on a well-deserved hat-trick. The two straight wickets included Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer while the third scalp included Kieron Pollard in the final over as West Indies were restricted to 95/9 in their 20 overs. Only Pollard showed some resistance with a run-a-ball 49. Saini finished with figures of 3/17 in his four overs at an economy rate of 4.25 which also included a maiden.
