Justin Langer on Glenn Maxwell's health
Australia head coach Justin Langer has come out in support of Maxwell and suggested that a lot of players are putting on a mask of enjoying the game while they are struggling from within.
Speaking to Australian media, Langer said that behind the mask of the great entertainer and the great talent, a lot of these guys are human and they’re hurting a bit. Hopefully, Maxwell is going to be fine.
"He's struggling a bit and it took great courage from him to tell us he wasn't ok. A few little things weren't quite right. I asked him how he was going and he said 'I'm not going that well actually'. I'm pleased he feels he's got that trust in the environment to be able to do that," he said while addressing the media.
Langer also said that Maxwell will have full support from everyone and the support staff of the Australian national team will stay in touch with him.
The coach also went onto say that like all injuries, the staff will work out where he’s at with it and also plan on when Maxwell is going to return to play hopefully healthier and happier than he is at the moment.
The former Australia opener said that we’ve got to show people respect and care for them. It’s not just what you see on TV. It’s what behind the mask that counts.
Earlier Ben Oliver who is the executive general manager of the Australian team said that the well-being of the players and staff was of utmost importance and extended the Board's support to him.
