Indian commentator and analyst Harsha Bhogle called the Indian cricket fans as the 'life of the sport' and gave a rallying call to make the fans feel comfortable and secure in the stadiums across the country. Harsha Bhogle's comments come days after a fan intruded the pitch in between the second Test in Pune to touch Rohit Sharma's feet who almost tripped over as he tried to prevent the fan. Following the incident, many former cricketers have voiced their opinion about the security arrangements at the stadiums and have called for stricter measures to ensure zero pitch invasion. However, Harsha Bhogle has said that the fans must be respected and that their visit to the stadiums should be made as comfortable as possible. Harsha Bhogle said that without the Indian fans the sport was nothing and that if they were neglected, then they would stop coming to stadiums to watch the game. Pointing at the renovated stadiums across the country and improved pitches, Harsha Bhogle said that it was time for the match-viewing to be made easier in the stadiums with the security requirements being kept in mind.
'Respect the fans', says Harsha Bhogle
Aside from cricket, it is very important that our stadiums respect fans & make their visit to the stadium as pleasant as possible. Otherwise, they will just stop coming. The Indian cricket fan is the life of our sport, without him/her,we are nothing.

The stadiums are much better looking, pitches and outfields are much better too, now to make viewing at the ground much easier within the requirements of security.

Rohit Sharma almost trips over
Indian fans' reverence for their cricketers is on the next level and it has been proved often during the matches at home, as fans invade the field in order to attempt to touch or meet their favourite stars from the national team. This time it was India's star opener Rohit Sharma, who almost tripped over a fan, who had tried to touch the Hit Man's feet during the second Test in Pune. As India was fielding, a fan attempted to touch Rohit Sharma's feet following which Rohit Sharma tried to prevent him from doing so and nearly lost his balance in the process. A series of pictures from the match reveals the exact moment and other players including skipper Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mayank Agarwal can be seen looking on as Rohit Sharma almost falls down. India mounted pressure on the Proteas right from the beginning, leaving them three wickets down at stumps on Day two and further weakened their position on Day three.
