With two scalps in the first session on Day three, Ravindra Jadeja once again stunned South African batsmen with his straight deliveries that went on top crash the stumps. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja gave the hosts an important breakthrough as he got the wicket of Zubayr Hamza - whose partnership with Temba Bavuma was frustrating the Indian bowlers. In what looked like a low-lying delivery, Ravindra Jadeja bowled over Zubayr Hamza, putting an end to his innings after the batsman scored his maiden half-century in Test cricket. Jadeja's next victim was South Africa's wicketkeeper Klaasen who was dismissed by a straight delivery that spun across to go on to disturb the timber.
Harsha Bhogle's insight on Jadeja's spell
'The Voice of Indian cricket' Harsha Bhogle called Jadeja as a 'threat on a turning track' as he went on to elaborate on how the batsmen failed to read Jadeja's bowling. Talking about the variations in Jadeja's bowling, Harsha Bhogle said that the batsman could not perceive any change in Jadeja releasing a ball that turns and the one that goes on straight. Harsha Bhogle said that this made Jadeja the most dangerous bowler on a turning track. He also hailed Jadeja's scalps - Hamza and Klaasen as victims of the conventional spin bowling.
There is no perceptible change in Jadeja's release between the one that turns and the other that goes straight through. That is why he is such a threat on a turning track. The Hamza and Klaasen dismissals were vintage spin bowling.

Hamza-Bavuma partnership fails to pick steam
South Africa's Zubayr Hamza brought up his maiden Test half-century on Day three as the visitors slowly recovered from an early strike by India. Resuming the day on 9-2, South Africa lost skipper Faf DuPlessis in the fourth ball of the first over for just one run. Zubayr Hamza along with Temba Bavuma has played a slow yet patient knock as they got the scoreboard ticking with their 50-run partnership. Zubayr Hamza's fifty came off 56 deliveries with eight fours and one six. Zubayr Hamza got to his half-century in style with a six.
South Africa struggle at 129-6
South Africa looked like they were picking up some steam after the first session on Day three before spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Shahbaz Nadeem got the breakthrough for India, putting the visitors in a perilous position. Zubayr Hamza and Temba Bavuma managed to get a partnership going after Faf DuPlessis was sent packing early in the day but fell short after Hamza was bowled over by a low-lying delivery from Jadeja. Temba Bavuma followed Hamza, as he fell prey to Shahbaz Nadeem's turner, making it the first Test scalp for the debutant spinner. South Africa are at 129-6 before lunch, trailing India by 368 runs.
