'What a comeback champ': Cricket world explodes as KL Rahul scores 50 against Pakistan

KL Rahul celebrated the half-century with a hug from his partner Virat Kohli. This is Rahul's first match for India since suffering an injury in IPL 2023.

Indian cricketer KL Rahul has slammed a sensational half-century against Pakistan in his first match back for India after a months long injury break. Rahul took 60 balls to reach the 50-run mark on Day 2 of the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s game between India and Pakistan. Rahul celebrated the half-century with a hug from his batting partner Virat Kohli. This is Rahul's first match for India since his return to competitive cricket this month. He suffered a thigh injury during IPL 2023.

India vs Pakistan: KL Rahul returns with a bang 

KL Rahul came in to bat after the dismissal of Shubman Gill on Day 1 of the match. Virat Kohli was already at the crease when Rahul joined him in the middle. The duo has forged a 100-run partnership following the resumption of the match on Monday. Kohli is also batting well and is looking good to score a fifty. Earlier, openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill both scored half-centuries.

This was KL Rahul's 14th half-century in One-Day International cricket for India. Rahul also has five centuries in the format. On Day 1 of the ongoing match against Pakistan, Rahul completed 2000 runs in ODIs. He became the fourth-fastest Indian batter to reach the milestone, equalling Virat Kohli's record.
