Indian cricketer KL Rahul has made a sensational comeback to international cricket as he scored a century against Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2023 Super Fours match on Monday. Rahul reached the three-digit mark off 100 balls. This is his first ODI century in 898 days and his sixth overall. Rahul's ton was made up of 10 boundaries and two sixes. Rahul came to bat after the dismissal of Shubman Gill on Day 1 of the match, which was moved to the reserve day following rain interruption.

Rahul achieved his half-century after facing 60 balls, and he reached the century mark in 100 balls. During his innings, he struck 12 boundaries (fours) and cleared the ropes twice (sixes) on his way to a brilliant ton. The pivotal moment came in the 47th over of the Indian innings when he completed his century by taking a two-run shot off the last ball of the over. Remarkably, he formed an unbeaten partnership worth 233 runs with Virat Kohli, who also notched up a century of his own. Note, the match marks Rahul's return to international cricket.

KL Rahul's batting partner Virat Kohli also scored a century of his own, his 47th in ODI cricket. This is Kohli's fourth consecutive century at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Kohli also completed 13,000 ODI runs in the process, becoming the fastest batter to do so in the history of the sport. Rahul and Kohli have thus far forged an unbeaten partnership of 207 runs.
