India vs South Africa first Test is underway and the decision to send Rohit Sharma to open with Mayank Agarwal came to be fruitful as the pair smashed 317 runs against South Africa at the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
The opening batsmen have not let visitors get any momentum going their way since day one of the three-match Test series. After opting to bat, openers Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal have performed well on the pitch. The duo broke the 15-year-old record of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir on Thursday. However, the thing to note here is that this is the first time both the Indian openers scored a century against South Africa. Agarwal scored his maiden Test century and became the 86th Indian batsmen to achieve this feat. This was also the third double hundred partnership by an Indian opening pair against South Africa.
