Opting to bowl first, Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage displayed a brilliant performance, scalping five key wickets for 40 runs, which led to India's dismissal for a total of 213.
The dynamic spin partnership of Wellalage and Charith Asalanka, who secured four wickets for a mere 18 runs, created chaos during the middle overs, eventually leading to India's downfall. Captain Rohit Sharma (53) emerged as the top scorer for India, but their innings faced a brief rain interruption with only three overs remaining.
