India destroyed Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final

In a spectacular bowling effort by India, Mohammed Siraj claimed 6 wickets, while Hardik Pandya took 3 wickets and Jasprit Bumrah took 1 wicket against Sri Lanka. For India, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan opened the batting and took just 6.1 overs to seal the win.

Rohit Sharma and his team easily defeated Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final thanks to an outstanding opening spell from Mohammed Siraj. It was impossible for the Lankan Tigers to recover after being reduced to 12/6 thanks to Siraj's five-wicket haul in just 16 balls. After that, there was merely a formality, which made the game last a total of 22 overs. The 10-wicket victory is a joy for the Men in Blue supporters, who have been clamouring online ever since the game's conclusion. It seemed to be a disappointing matchup for the spectators, who were hoping for a competitive game. However, after the match, Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga made a huge statement about Team India ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

Malinga believes India are favourites for World Cup 2023 

Talking about the India vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2023 final, the Sri Lankan legend claimed that India are one of the top contenders for the World Cup 2023 that starts on October 5. It is important to note that India are the hosts for the major cricket event this year and will have a big home advantage. Posting on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account, he said:

Malinga claimed that the match would have disappointed the fans from Sri Lank. He pointed out that the team had a great performance throughout the tournament but failed to make the most out of it in the final. He believes that Sri Lanka lack the 'ability to access the situation and play accordingly' and for a successful World Cup, Sri Lanka need to approach with a proper plan.
