India vs South Africa: Match One
India beat South Africa by seven wickets. Kohli led his team to victory, scoring a total of 72 runs from 52 balls. The Indian skipper took over Rohit Sharma as the leading run-scorer in the shortest format of the game. Kohli was also the man of the match. India chased the target in 19 overs. Paceman Deepak Chahar restricted SA to 149/5 in 20 overs. When it was India’s turn to bat, Kohli was the anchor. His crucial partnership with Shikhar Dhawan, who scored 40 from 31 deliveries, helped the Indian team win the game. The South African skipper played a good knock, smashing 52 from 37 balls. Temba Bavuma scored 49 runs, but the wicket was taken by Deepak Chahar. By not letting the Proteas cross 150 runs, it was an easy win for India.
India vs South Africa: Match Two
After winning the toss, Kohli’s decision to bat first backfired and South Africa triumphed over India by nine wickets. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed to score on the field, departing on the same score (9). Dhawan with his 25-ball 36 was the top scorer for India against South Africa. De Kock dominated the game as he remained unbeaten at 79 from just 52 deliveries. Beuran Hendricks was fantastic with the ball, as he gave 14 runs in four overs and two wickets. Beuran Hendricks was the man of the match and Quinton de Kock, man of the series.

Although many held Kohli responsible for the loss, many other factors were at play. In an interview, Kohli said he believes this draw will help the Indian team get out of their comfort zone, and only benefit them in the long run. Ind and SA will now compete in the India vs South Africa Test Series starting on October 2, 2019.
