Jasprit Bumrah grabbed eyeballs with his unique bowling style, his sling-arm action and natural pace. The peculiar release point of Bumrah's deliveries makes it hard for a batsman to judge his approach. The 25-year-old has played 12 test matches in which he has taken 62 wickets with an average of 19.24. Bumrah consistently bowls around 85 to 90 mph (140–145 km/hr) making him one of the fastest bowlers in the Indian team. Though he will not be seen delivering his yorkers against South Africa, 2019 has been a phenomenal year for Bumrah.

2019: The year of Jasprit Bumrah?

In April 2019, Jasprit Bumrah was named in India's squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. A few days later, the International Cricket Council (ICC) called Bumrah ‘one of the most exciting talents making their World Cup debut.’ On July, while playing against Sri-Lanka, Bumrah became the second-fastest Indian to take 100 wickets in ODIs after Mohammed Shami. By taking eighteen wickets in nine matches, Bumrah became the leading wicket-taker for India in the tournament. In August 2019, Bumrah took a five-wicket haul against West Indies in the first test match. In the second Test match, he created history by becoming the third Indian to take a Test hat-trick after Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan. His performances were instrumental in leading India to a 2 - 0 win in the series.
