India defeated Bangladesh in the third T20I on Sunday in Nagpur to win the series 2-1. India’s come from behind victory was inspired by Deepak Chahar, who picked up 6/7, registering the best ever figures for a bowler in T20I cricket. Earlier, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul led India’s charge helping them set Bangladesh a target of 175. This was India’s 4th T20I series win after losing the first game of the series. A Mushfiqur Rahim-inspired Bangladesh inflicted defeat on the home side in the first T20I in Delhi. But Rohit Sharma's attacking 85 help India level the series 1-1. Here are 3 other instances where India came back to win a T20I series after losing the first game.

1.  India vs Sri Lanka, 2016

India were bowled out for 101 after the Indian batsmen had no answers to the questions posed by the Sri Lankan bowlers on a green top in Pune in the first T20I.  Sri Lanka comfortably chased the target down in 18 overs, winning the game by 5 wickets. In the second T20I in Ranchi, the Shikhar-Rohit duo put the Sri Lankan bowlers to the sword, helping India amass 196/6 in their 20 overs. The Sri Lankan batsmen struggled and could only muster 127/9, losing the game by a massive 69 runs. In the final match, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin continued his stellar form, picking up 4/8, as Sri Lanka were bowled out for a paltry 82. India won the game by 9 wickets, with 6 overs remaining to seal the 3-match series 2-1.

2. Zimbabwe vs India, 2016

Zimbabwe posted 170/6 in the first T20I after Elton Chigumbura scored a quickfire half-century. India fell short, despite Manish Pandey’s fighting 48, falling short by 2 runs. In the second T20I, Barinder Sran and Jasprit Bumrah ran through the Zimbabwean batting order, as they managed to score only 99 in their 20 overs. India comfortably chased it down, winning the game by 10 wickets. In the third T20I, Kedar Jadhav scored a fifty, as India managed to score 138/6. Zimbabwe struggled, losing the match by only 3 runs.

3. India vs England, 2016-17

India lost the first T20I in Kanpur, after Eoin Morgan led the England chase, helping England comfortably overhaul the 147-run  target. In the second T20I at Nagpur, KL Rahul scored a 47-ball 71, helping India reach 144/6 in their 20 overs. Jasprit Bumrah and Ashish Nehra led India’s defence, helping India win the nail-biting contest by 5 runs. In the final match, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni scored half-centuries as India posted a mammoth 202/6 in their 20 overs. What followed was a Yuzvendra Chahal special, as the leg spinner picked up 6 wickets for 25 runs, helping India win the game by a huge margin by 75 runs.
