Kolkata Knight Riders has been one of the most sought after teams in the Indian Premier League as they have won the title twice in the past 12 seasons. The franchise won their first-ever title in 2012 with the team led by Gautam Gambhir. He led the team to the title once again in the year 2014 as they defeated Kings XI Punjab in an intense final match. However, the team led by Dinesh Karthik did not have a successful outing last season. KKR won six games last season and finished at the fifth position on the points table with just 12 points. There were a few players who couldn’t provide enough support to their star players. Here is the list of three Indian players who could be released by Kolkata Knight Riders before the auction of IPL 2020.

1. Robin Uthappa
The star wicketkeeper-batsman for KKR seemed to be out of form in the last season of IPL. The Karnataka-born batsman scored 282 runs in the 12 matches he played. He played with a strike rate of 115.10 in the previous season. His batting form had slowed down KKR innings on several occasions. His highest score last season was 67 and KKR would be looking for a young talented middle-order batsman to replace him, who could be a backup for Shubman Gill.
2. Rinku Singh
KKR bought the 21-year-old in the IPL 2018 auction after he did well in the domestic cricket. He was purchased for a whopping price of 80 lakhs despite having a base price of 20 lakhs. Playing two seasons already for KKR, Rinku has not been able to satisfy the amount he was bought in for. In the 2018 season, he scored 29 runs in four matches and played with a strike rate of 93.54. KKR still retained him for the last season. He played five games and scored a mere total of 37 runs. He had a strike rate of 108.82, making him a potential casualty this season.
3. Prithvi Raj
Prithvi Raj, the Andhra based bowler, made his List A debut for Andhra in the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy and did well with the domestic cricket. However, he played only two matches for KKR last season and picked up just one wicket. He had an economy rate of 11.40. There are high chances that KKR release him this year with the possible return of young sensation Kamlesh Nagarkoti and the availability of his replacement last season, Kerala pacer Sandeep Warrier.
