The Punjab side had two consecutive disappointments in two seasons. In 2018, they were positioned on the seventh position in the points table with 12 points. They recorded six wins and eight losses in 14 matches. With the appointment of new coach Kumble, Kings XI Punjab will be looking for few changes in their side. Let us take a look at three overseas players who can be released by the Punjab side before IPL 2020 Auction.
David Miller
David Miller has been an aggressive middle-order batsman in IPL who can post a decent score on the board. However, he was a big disappointment for the team last season as he failed to score in crucial situations. The South African had a strike rate of 129.87. Miller scored 213 runs in 10 matches with his highest score in the last season being 59 runs. Nicholas Pooran proved to be a perfect replacement for Miller. There are chances the Punjab side release Miller for better options.
Hardus Viljoen
The South African fast bowler Hardus was picked up by the Punjab side for ₹75 lakhs. In the previous season, Hardus seemed to be in a weak form as he bowled with an economy rate of 9.65. He picked seven wickets in six matches. His best bowling figure last season was 2/39. Kings XI Punjab will probably release him before IPL auction 2020 so that rope in a fresh lot of youngsters.
Andrew Tye
The Australian bowler, Andrew Tye, who was the winner of Purple Cap 2018 was in a deficient form during last season. With his poor economy rate of 10.59, he was dropped in most of the games. He played six matches and picked three wickets in the previous season. Kumble and the Kings XI Punjab selection committee will look to rope in a capable in-form youngster in place of Tye.
