IPL Auction 2020: Three Indian players SRH may release ahead of season
With the IPL Auction 2020 approaching, the SRH camp will be hard at work deciding which players to retain and whom to let go. Here are three candidates.
2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad did not have a very impressive campaign in the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team was led by David Warner and Jonny Bairstow's fantastic batting efforts and had their ever-reliable bowling unit to count on but could only win six games in their 14 league games. They still managed to make the playoffs and got eliminated by the Delhi Capitals. With the 2020 auction arriving, here are three Indian players SRH may let go off to make way for new talent.
Yusuf Pathan
One of the IPL's biggest heroes, Yusuf Pathan, has only been a shadow of what he has been capable of. The elder Pathan brother was played by the team in 10 of their 15 matches in the 2019 season but could only manage 40 runs. The one over he bowled in the tournament did not get him a wicket either. The man who holds the record for the second-fastest century in the IPL could not perform with the bat and may very well be released by the Hyderabad camp.
Wriddhiman Saha
The Bengal wicketkeeper-batsman was bought by SRH in the 2018 mega-auctions and was coming off some decent seasons with the Kings XI Punjab. Saha, however, has not been able to contribute vitally to the Hyderabad franchise. He scored only 122 runs in the 11 matches he played for the team in 2018. In 2019, he played five matches, scoring a total of 86 runs. Saha has not had a single fifty-plus score for the Hyderabad franchise and with wicketkeepers like Jonny Bairstow in their ranks, the SRH management could decide to let Saha go.
Abhishek Sharma
The Punjab all-rounder looked like a promising talent when he was picked up by the Delhi Capitals in the 2018 season. He even displayed signs of brilliance which may be the reason behind SRH picking him up at the 2019 auctions. But Abhishek could only get three matches in the 2019 season in which he managed nine runs and a lone wicket. With all-rounders like Vijay Shankar and Mohammad Nabi at their disposal, SRH may release Sharma.
