Mitchell Starc is the best white-ball bowler: Langer
Speaking to a leading Australian media network, Justin Langer said that Mitchell Starc was brilliant and went on to say that he was probably the world’s best white-ball bowler. He also lauded Starc's bowling at the death. Justin Langer added that Mitchell Starc led the wickets in the 2019 World Cup which proved what a great bowler he was.
He went to explain how his team had improved in the last 12 months and how they had evolved. According to Langer, the 2019 World Cup had helped the team in order to give importance to planning and preparations ahead of a big tournament.
Mitchell Starc had turned out to be the leader of Australia’s bowling attack during World Cup 2015 and was a huge success. But, post that, injuries kept hindering his ODI and T20I career. He didn’t play ODIs regularly for the team until the 50 over mega-event that was held in England and Wales.
Coming into the 2019 World Cup, Starc was not considered to be that effective as he had not played ODIs regularly to manage his workload. But contrary to everyone's expectations, he was at his very best as he ended the tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 27 wickets to his name, including two five-wicket and four-wicket hauls.
He gave some brilliant performances in the T20I series against Sri Lanka followed by Pakistan which has impressed his coach. The 29-year-old is having a great summer as he grabbed 8 wickets in his last five T20Is at an impressive economy rate of 6.63. He will be a key player in Australia’s T20 World Cup campaign that will get Down Under next year.
