Mushfiqur Rahim cuts & sweeps his way to 50 as Bangladesh struggle to stay afloat

Mushfiqur Rahim emerged as the only ray of hope for Bangladesh as the visitors lost more than half their side after lunch on Day three of the first Test at Indore. India's pace trio of Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami aided by Ashwin left Bangladesh rattled. Mushfiqur Rahim stood his ground firm and registered his 20th Test half-century, surviving through dropped chances and run-out opportunities. Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim stitched together a partnership of 86 runs following which Liton Das was dismissed. Mehdy Hasan joined Mushfiqur Rahim at the crease, and the duo have managed to stitch a partnership of 56 runs, leaving the Indian bowlers frustrated.

Rohit Sharma misses once, takes the next one

Mohammad Shami's magical form in the 2nd innings of a Test game continued as he added another three-wicket haul to his name, within two sessions on Day three at Indore. Shami got two early wickets to reduce the visitors to four wickets by lunch. However, Shami had lost an opportunity earlier after Mushfiqur Rahim was dropped by Rohit Sharma on the slips. A few overs after lunch, Shami managed to trap Mahmudullah in the same slips, only this time Rohit Sharma managed to hang on to it, making amends for his earlier mistake. Rohit Sharma was also seen practising slip catches during the lunch break. The Hitman signalled confidently towards the fielding coach at the Pavillion once he held on to the catch.

Indian bowlers dominate again on Day 3

The Indian pacers wreaked havoc again, just as they have done throughout the home season. Umesh Yadav, who entertained the crowd with a whirlwind 10 ball-25 on Day 2, castled opening batsman Imrul Kayes on the morning of Day 3. Going for an ambitious drive, Kayes could only manage an inside edge onto the stumps. Ishant Sharma then scalped Shadman Islam for just 6 to send both their openers packing. Mohammed Shami then joined the party as he trapped Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque in front of stumps. He also accounted for Mohammad Mithun’s dismissal as the visitors were left reeling at 44-4 at one stage. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah then safely negotiated the remaining deliveries as Bangladesh reach 60-4 in a 22-over morning session on Day 3. With just 6 wickets in hand, the visitors now trail the Indian team by another 283 runs.
