Mohammed Siraj was unstoppable in the IND vs SL, Asia Cup final
In Colombo, the final of the Asia Cup 2023 was between India and Sri Lanka. India beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah built the momentum of the game early on by getting India's first wicket in just three bowls of his first over. By the end of the fourth over, Mohammed Siraj had activated his ‘game-changer mode and given Sri Lanka a night to forget.
Siraj's first over of bowling was a blank, but in his second over, he got four outs. With only 12 runs on the board after four overs, Sri Lanka lost half of their team. Siraj's great performance kept going, and he took another wicket. In 7 overs, he took 6 wickets and lost 21. Thanks to Siraj's great effort, India was able to limit Sri Lanka to just 50 runs in 15.2 overs. This left Sri Lanka with just the bare essentials to finish. Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill, who were at the top of the order, finished the chase quickly in 6.1 overs.

Siraj names his favourite wicket of the match
Mohammed Siraj demonstrated his bowling brilliance during the game by getting wickets quickly one after the other. In his second over, he took out Pathum Nissanka first, then Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, and Dhananjaya de Silva.
The 29-year-old fast bowler further displayed his talent by dismissing Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka by sending the stumps flying with an inswinger. As part of his outstanding bowling effort, Siraj also got rid of Kusal Mendis, who had the highest scoring total of 17 runs off 34 balls. Siraj's services were crucial to India's victory in the game. Talking on BCCI TV about his favourite wicket of the match, he said that Shanka’s wicket was his favourite one and added:
(On Dasun Shanaka’s wicket) I worked a lot in the West Indies to bowl outswinger wide of the crease because I was doing well. I tried to push for inswing outside the crease. I executed exactly how I envisioned myself. It was my best wicket.
To be able to perform in the final is a great thing for me. I will get enough confidence for the World Cup.
Team India will now be hoping that Siraj continues his form in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup, which starts on October 5, 2023. They will play warm-up matches against Australia and the Netherlands before they play their first official match on October 8, 2023.
