New Zealand vs England 2019: NZ defeated ENG by 14 runs to go 2-1 up in the series. Here, we take a look at the report card of players from both the teams.
New Zealand cricket team defeated England by 14 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series. The home team successfully defended 181 after the initial onslaught by English batsmen Dawid Malan and James Vince. The match was played at the Saxton Oval in Nelson on November 5.
Earlier in the day, New Zealand captain Tim Southee won the toss and decided to bat first. Riding on Colin de Grandhomme’s 55 and some middle-order contributions from Ross Taylor and James Neesham, the ‘Black Caps’ scored 180-7 in their 20 overs. England began their run-chase confidently, reaching 139-2 in 14.5 overs. With 42 runs required off 31 balls, the visitors’ batting line-up faltered as they could manage only 27 runs from their final five overs. New Zealand’s 14-run win also takes them 2-1 with two matches left to play. The T20 action will now proceed with the fourth match of the series scheduled to be held at the McLean Park in Napier on November 8.
