'No longer the prince': Ex-cricketer makes enormous remark on under-fire Shubman Gill
After a terrific IPL 2023 season, Shubman Gill's form suddenly nosedived and off late he's been struggling for runs. An ex-cricketer has paid heed on the topic.
While on one end the India vs West Indies series has proven to be an ideal opportunity for youngsters to showcase their mettle, on the other end, the tour has also raised doubts on the place of certain starters. Shubman Gill's plight after IPL 2023
Following an exceptional IPL 2023, Shubman Gill has struggled to get runs in the entire summer. He had a subdued WTC final against Australia and even in the ongoing India vs.West Indies series, the right-hander hasn't produced anything extraordinary. While Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma gained all the praise for making the most of the opportunities, the same does not hold for Gill.

Aakash Chopra pays heed to Shubman Gill's form
Aakash Chopra, who keeps a keen eye on all the happenings of cricket, paid heed to the subject of Shubman Gill's dismal off-late run. The former India opener expressed his views and seemingly questioned the stature of him being the King and not prince anymore. Here's what he said on his YouTube channel.
At this point, the problem is with Shubman Gill's form. During the IPL, I read in many places that he is no longer the prince but the king. But after that, there was the WTC final, he didn't score too many runs there, played two Test matches against the West Indies, didn't score runs there.
Then he played three ODIs, where he scored one half-century and a score of 34. He has single-digit scores in all three T20Is. It seems like he hasn't scored runs at all on this West Indies tour. I feel there is one thing with him for sure - when the pitches are slightly slow, he will find it difficult to get into rhythm," said the former India batter.
Team India will face West Indies on 12th August in the 4th T20I and all eyes will be on whether IPL 2023's leading run scorer will be able to produce a match-winning innings or not. Well, we will have to wait until yesterday.
