India gave merciless beating to Australia

In the lead-up to the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, Team India registered a convincing win over Australia. Following the mauling in Mohali, India hammered Australia at Holkar too. The onslaught which was begun by Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer continued till the blinder by Suryakumar Yadav. Courtesy of 18 sixes and 31 fours, India reached the mammoth total of 399 and from there, only a similar showcase from Australia could have brought a thrill to the game. However, Australia batters followed the similar path of bowlers and were bundled out for 216, leading to India's 99-run win and a subsequent 2-0 lead in the 3-match series.

Sean Abbott dwells on what transpired in Indore

Following the heavy loss, Australian allrounder Sean Abbott reflected on the performance of the team and said that the unit has to execute its plans in a better way.

"We've obviously just not executed as well as we would have liked," Abbott said after the loss. "It's all well and good to say that we'll take learnings out of these games and stuff like that, but we do need to execute better as a whole."

"It showed today when we were bowling, and it was a little bit the same in South Africa as well, as soon as we missed the stumps we were punished."

Abbott, who scored a brisk half-century in the losing cause, further said that he deems the death bowling was decent but carries room for improvement.

"Although we went for 400 again today, I thought the death bowling was pretty good," Abbott said. "It can still be improved a lot. But like I've mentioned a couple of times already, our execution and bringing those stumps into play, owning our lengths and putting pressure on the batters that way certainly has to improve and I have no doubt that we've got a very skilled attack."
