ODI World Cup 2023: How have Indian pacers from the squad performed in last 2 years

The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is almost here and India relies on its fast bowlers. Let's take a look at how our Indian fast bowlers have performed recently.

The Indian Cricket Team will be knocking horns against Australia in the first ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match. The Indian team’s pacers have played a key role recently in their victory in the Ireland series of the Asia Cup 2023. In India’s ODI World Cup squad, there are 3 strong pacers; Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj.

How have our Indian pacers performed recently in ODI? 

Jasprit Bumrah

With his superb bowling abilities, Jasprit Bumrah has been a prominent player for the Indian cricket squad. Bumrah has had a career filled with consistently outstanding performances. He has played for India in 78 ODI matches thus far, claiming 129 wickets. His economic rate is 4.67. With his greatest individual bowling numbers of 6/19, Bumrah demonstrates his ability to completely demolish opposing batting lineups.

Over the last 24 months, Bumrah has only gotten better. He has played in 11 games in the past 2 years and taken 21 wickets. At 4.74, his economy rate is impressive. It is important to note that he returned to the Indian team after 11 months (in 2023) due to a back injury. He made his return in the India vs Ireland series and won Player of the Series, and now, after winning the Asia Cup with the squad, he will focus on winning the ODI World Cup 2023 with his fast bowling. 

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj has become a well-known bowler for the Indian cricket team by putting in great efforts since his first game. In his career, Siraj has played in 30 games and taken 54 wickets. His best scores in an innings are 6/21 which came against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final, which shows how he can win major games for his team.

Siraj has made clear progress and had a clear effect over the past two years. He has played in 29 games of his 30 career ODI matches in the past 2 years and has taken 54 wickets. His economy rate is still very good at 4.74.

Mohammed Shami 

As a bowler for the Indian cricket team, Mohammed Shami has been very strong. Shami has had a long career. He has played in 94 ODI games and taken 171 wickets. His economy rate is 5.57 which is exceptionally high. Shami's best bowling numbers in a game are 5/51, which shows how well he can make big breaks.

Based on his past 2 years' performances, Shami has played in 15 games and taken 23 wickets. During this time, Shami has kept an economy rate of 5.25.  He will be looking to provide his experience to the fast bowling attack of the Indian Cricket Team in the ODI World Cup.
