Pragyan Ojha supports wheelchair tennis tournament in Hyderabad

Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha has voiced his support towards the wheelchair tennis tournament in Hyderabad. Ojha formally inaugurated the Charminar Open.

Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha has voiced his support for the wheelchair tennis tournament in Hyderabad. While speaking with the media, the left-arm spinner described that he had a ‘touching experience’ on the side-lines of the tournament. The cricketer formally inaugurated the second edition of the Charminar Open championship.

After the inauguration, Pragyan Ojha said that he was thrilled to see an amazing spirit among the players who were facing such difficult odds. Ojha added that the players and organisers were sending a terrific message by battling over diversity and showing no signs of discomfort and inhibitions despite being especially challenged. He also lauded the players for sending a great inspiration and for showing how sports can transgress all barriers.

A total of 40 players will be taking part in the Charminar Open championship. The tournament is scheduled for both men and women in singles and doubles categories.

Pragyan Ojha last played a Test match for India in November 2013 against West Indies. The left-arm spinner has represented India in 24 Tests, 18 ODI’s and 6 T20I matches. He has picked 113 wickets in the longest format and 31 wickets combined in both ODI’s and T20I’s. To this date, he remains one of only two spinners ever to achieve a Purple Cap in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
