Suryakumar Yadav acknowledged his modest ODI record and divulged insights from the team management regarding his role in the ODI format. As the top-ranked T20I batter globally, Suryakumar was prompt in correcting a journalist's reference to his T20I century count, showcasing his familiarity with his personal achievements. When asked about his "third" T20I century, he swiftly interjected, clarifying that he was pursuing his "fourth" century, as he already boasts three T20I centuries.

"I never think about milestones. Regardless of whether I am batting on 47 or 98, I bat based on the requirement of the team. If I have to hit a six, I will. I don't think a lot about achieving milestones. If it happens, well and good. But, fulfilling the team's requirement comes first," Suryakumar Yadav said, playing down the disappointment of having missed out on an opportunity to get to the three-figure mark.

Suryakumar emphasized his focus on team requirements over personal milestones. He asserted that whether his score stood at 47 or 98, he adjusted his batting approach to fulfill the team's needs. During India's successful chase of 160, Suryakumar was at 83 runs from 44 balls. Despite having ample time to reach his century, he unfortunately mishit an ordinary delivery from Alzarri Joseph, resulting in a catch to the deep fine-leg fielder during the 13th over.

Suryakumar's innings marked his resurgence in form. Although he fell short of matching Rohit Sharma's T20I century record, he received the Player of the Match award, his 12th in T20Is. Alongside Suryakumar, young talent Tilak Varma played a vital supporting role in India's triumph, contributing an undefeated 49 runs from 37 balls. Their 87-run partnership proved crucial after India lost two early wickets.
