RCB released players: 12 players no longer with the franchise ahead of IPL 2020 Auction

IPL 2020 Auction: RCB released quite a few players before the auction, which is set to take place on December 19 in Kolkata. Here is a look at all the players.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the most exciting teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) that have always had talent in abundance and match-winners galore but have never managed to live up to fans expectations' of winning the IPL championship title.

RCB have Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Yuzvendra Chahal in their ranks but the results have just not come their way and RCB has not won even a single title in 12 seasons. In fact, the best RCB has performed in the IPL across 12 seasons is their runners-up finish in 2016. In the last edition also, the Bangalore-based franchise came up with a miserable performance and finished at the bottom.

RCB have released quite a few players before the IPL Auction 2020, which is set to take place on December 19. They will look to strengthen their team and cover all the required bases at the upcoming auction. It may be indicative of RCB's mindset under new coach Mike Hesson that they might be looking for at least a minor overhaul while on the lookout for their maiden IPL title.

Let us have a look at the 12 players RCB released ahead of the auction.

Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer, Colin de Grandhomme, Prayas Ray Barman, Tim Southee, Akshdeep Nath, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Kulwant Khejroliya, Himmat Singh, Heinrich Klaasen, Milind Kumar (and Dale Steyn, who was a mid-season replacement)

RCB have released most of their overseas players which include world-class overseas bowlers like Southee, Coulter-Nile & Dale Steyn. They also released the likes of Stoinis and De Grandhomme amongst the all-rounders.

RCB are going into the auction with a reasonable purse of Rs. 27.90 crores. They have 12 slots to fill, including 6 foreigners and they might be looking to fill a larger portion of it through the auction.

RCB will be led by Kohli with senior pros like Moeen, Parthiv and De Villiers holding key roles. They also might be looking for some heftier contributions from youngsters like Shivam Dube, Gurkeerat Mann and the bowling spearheads will be Yuzvendra Chahal, Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar.
