Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was introduced in the attack in the 6th over to pick up a wicket, and he almost did, only for Pant to fluff the chance.
Rishabh Pant's glaring error gives Liton Das a reprieve
On the third ball of Yuzvendra Chahal’s first over, Liton Das charged down the track in an attempt to hit a big one. He was deceived by the turn on the leg break, giving Pant an easy chance to stump Liton Das. In his excitement, Pant collected the ball marginally ahead of the stumps, resulting in the batsman adjudged not-out and it was called a no-ball. According to MCC Laws, the wicketkeeper shall remain wholly behind the wicket at the striker’s end from the moment the ball comes into play until a ball delivered by the bowler touches the bat of the striker or passes the wicket at the striker’s end or the striker attempts a run. Rishabh Pant: Under criticism
Rishabh Pant has been under constant criticism for his below-par performance with the bat and also behind the stumps. With talented wicket-keepers like Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan waiting in the wings, Rishabh Pant will need to up his game if he has to be in the XI. Pant has struggled to give consistent performances in limited-overs internationals for India. He has played 22 T20Is, scoring 352 runs. In 12 ODIs, Pant has scored a paltry 229 runs, failing to register a single half-century.
