Sharma’s recent success as India’s opener has prompted many fans to draw comparisons with former explosive batsman Virender Sehwag. At a recent event, Sharma told reporters that while he acknowledges the comparisons, the fact remains that the similarity in the batting styles of the two is just public perception and not entirely accurate.
He also went on to praise the former Indian opener by saying that Sehwag’s contribution towards Indian cricket has been remarkable. He also added that 'Sehwag is Sehwag' and he played in a way in which the team wanted him to, something that the Sharma wants to emulate himself.
