The recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup in England saw some dazzling centuries throughout the 45-day event. Among all batsmen who aggregated over 500 runs, India’s very own ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma ended up leading the tournament’s batting chart with 648 runs in 9 matches. At a staggering average of 81, the Indian opening batsman smashed five centuries, which is also a record for any single edition. Out of his five World Cup tons, four resulted in Indian wins and his run spree came at a strike rate of 98.33.

When asked about the secrets behind his World Cup success, the star batsman spoke about starting any tournament fresh without thinking about their past performances. He also stressed on the importance of keeping yourself grounded. He mentioned that it is easier said than done when asked about how he deals with fans and followers alike reminding him about his milestones.

Rohit spoke about the importance of his team where personal milestones are not given as much weight as compared to team goals. He also credited his family with keeping him away from distractions. He mentioned how living in the present helped him become a better batsman and not thinking about how many ODIs he's played or centuries he's scored make him hungrier to succeed.

Rohit Sharma was recently a part of India’s victorious campaign in West Indies. The Mumbai Indians captain is also part of India’s 15-member squad for upcoming South Africa series. The Proteas are currently in India for a 3-match T20I series which will be followed by a 3-match Test series between two nations. After a rain-affected opening game, the two teams split the next two T20 games to end the series level at 1 - 1.
