The first Test of the India vs South Africa Test series produced a brilliant 115* from Rohit Sharma on Day 1 in Visakhapatnam. Equalling Don Bradman's average
Rohit equalled Australian legend Don Bradman's average at home. Bradman had an average of 98.22 at home in the 50 innings he played. Rohit has now equalled the statistic as he too has an average of 98.22 in the 15 innings he has played at home. He has scored 884 runs which include five fifties and four hundreds.
Most consecutive 50-plus scores at home
Rohit has now equalled Rahul Dravid's record of scoring scores of 50-plus for six consecutive matches in Test cricket at home. Dravid made this record between 1997 and 1998. Rohit has now scored scores of more than 50 in his last six Test innings including his ongoing innings of 115*.
Fourth Indian batsman to score hundred on Test opening debut
Rohit has joined Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul and Prithvi Shaw in the list of Indians who have scored a century on their debut as a Test match opener. Rohit's innings, as of Wednesday, consists of 12 fours and 5 sixes.
First Indian opener to score a hundred across all formats
The Hitman is now the first Indian opening batsman to have scored a century in all the three formats of the game. Rohit has scored 4 hundreds in Tests. The ferocious batsman has 27 hundreds in ODIs and 4 hundreds in T20Is.
