Dhawan hasn't been in good touch with the bat since his return from the hand injury which he had suffered while batting in India's second match against Australia at the 2019 World Cup in England. He made a comeback after a month in the limited-overs series against West Indies in which he could not score big and made 2 and 36 in the two games. He played the three T20Is against the Proteas and scored 76 runs from two games at an average of 38.

Dhawan will look to get back in form against Bangladesh which will be followed by the series against West Indies and consolidate his position in the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
