Shoaib Malik completes 9000 T20 runs; leads Guyana into CPL final
Shoaib Malik joins 9,000 T20-run club and became only the fourth batsman to do so. Malik achieved this feat in the qualifier game against Barbados Tridents
Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated Barbados Tridents in the first qualifier to enter their second successive CPL final. During the course of the match, Guyana's captain Shoaib Malik also scored his 9000th T20 run, becoming only the fourth batsman to do so across all T20 matches. His innings of 32 runs from 19 balls and his 97-run partnership with Brandon King was instrumental in Guyana posting a mammoth 218-3 on the board. In spite of some big hits from Jonathan Carter and captain Jason Holder in the final 10 overs, the Barbados Tridents could not keep up with the asking rate as they fell 30 runs short off the target.

Malik’s T20 career so far
Shoaib Malik made his T20 debut in 2005 and appeared in his first T20 international for Pakistan in 2006 against England. Malik is currently fourth on the list of most runs scored by a batsman in T20 behind Chris Gayle, Brandon McCullum and Kieron Pollard. In his 15-year T20 career so far, the right-handed batsman has scored 9014 runs in 335 innings. His runs have come at an average of 37.40 with a strike-rate of 125.15.

The former Pakistan captain has played 356 T20 matches, a record by any Pakistani player. He has made international appearances for Pakistan and ICC World XI and he has played domestic matches for several T20 leagues across the world. Apart from playing PSL, Malik was also a part of the Delhi Daredevils squad in the inaugural edition of cash-rich IPL. He has also played Big Bash and Bangladesh Premier League and currently leads Guyana Amazon Warriors in the ongoing edition of Caribbean Premier League.
Guyana reaches final
After a convincing win over Barbados in the quarterfinal, Shoaib Malik will once again be leading Guyana’s troops in the final of the ongoing CPL. The Amazon Warriors will face the winner of qualifier 2 game between Barbados Tridents and Trinbago Knight Riders. After a month of quality T20 action, Amazon remain the only unbeaten side in the tournament so far, winning all their 11 matches. The Warriors will be looking to maintain the same momentum heading into the final which is scheduled to be held at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on October 12.
