Sourav Ganguly pitches for Ravi Shastri’s greater involvement at NCA
Both former cricketers had a meeting at the NCA in Bengaluru earlier this week. While speaking in a press conference, Ganguly said that they had a good meeting in which they discussed the functioning of the NCA. The meeting went on for two hours, and without elaborating much, he stated that there were plans to get national coach Ravi Shastri more 'involved' with the activities of the NCA till his contract ends.
For getting Shastri involved in the NCA, it will be forming a committee for the same. Ganguly expressed his optimism about NCA’s role in the future of Indian cricket despite some of the criticism it has faced recently while handling the injuries of players such as Wriddhiman Saha. The BCCI President added that even Indian captain Virat Kohli is extremely passionate about the cause of developing the NCA into Indian cricket's ultimate Centre of Excellence. The 113-Test veteran also expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming pink-ball Test between India and Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens later this month.
Indian coach Ravi Shastri is currently involved with the cricket team for their home assignment against Bangladesh. Team India are scheduled to play three T20Is and two Test matches. The Ganguly-Durjoy Test series between the two nations will also form a part of the ongoing inaugural ICC World Test Championship.
