CPL T10: Stafanie Taylor and Afy Fletcher to lead exhibition matches
West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor will be captaining the NLCB Revellers, which is one of the teams which will contest inaugural T-10 matches in the Caribbean.
West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor will be captaining the NLCB Revellers, which is one of the teams which will contest inaugural T-10 matches in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Meanwhile, the other side, Coury Gladiators will be led by Windies leg spinner Afy Fletcher. Players from the Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica will be included in the Revellers side while Gladiators comprises of the Windward Islands, Guyana and Barbados. The T-20 game will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2019.
In a recent interview, Taylor was in all awe of the organisers, pointing out this match as the first step towards women’s cricket in the Caribbean region. She also claimed that bringing international players to Windies conditions and pitched just as they go their country will aid their home cricketing statistics. Also, Taylor said that it is beneficial for the West Indies cricket and it will aid the growing women’s cricket in the region.
Afy Fletcher, who is a constant in the West Indies international side, claimed this as the helping hand to the growing women’s cricket in the Caribbean region. In the interview, she also termed it as a great idea. She said that the initiative would help in exposing the talent of the women’s category. Revellers include the veteran Windies off-spinner Anisa Mohammed, experienced all-rounder Stacy-Ann King and the big-hitters like Natasha McLean and Britney Cooper.
