Cricket experts like Matthew Hayden and Waqar Younis termed Shaheen Shah Afridi's delivery to Rohit Sharma as a class ball they called off Virat Kohli's dismissal to be unlucky. Rain wins in the IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 match
The Indian cricket team was bundled for a score of 266 runs against Pakistan in the first innings after suffering a major top-order collapse. The Indian team lost the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill for a score of 66 runs in just 14.1 overs and it looked like the team would get wrapped up by the Pakistani pacers for a score of under 150 runs. However, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya had different ideas and the duo added 138 runs off 141 balls for the fifth wicket and also registered the highest fifth-wicket partnership in an ODI match against Pakistan. Ishan Kishan also joined MS Dhoni in two elite lists.

Ishan Kishan became the third Indian wicket-keeper after MS Dhoni and SC Khanna to score a fifty in the Asia Cup and also equalled Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, and MS Dhoni in scoring the 4th consecutive half-century in ODI cricket. However, the match was later called off due to rain as the Pakistani team was never able to come out to bat for their chase and no play was possible after the first innings.
