'They are superstars': Nepal skipper showers massive praise on Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli

Ahead of the match, Nepal skipper Rohit Paudel expressed his admiration for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, two of the biggest names in Indian cricket.

India and Nepal are all set to lock horns against each other in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 on Monday. The match is scheduled to take place at Pallekele International Stadium in Sri Lanka. India and Nepal have never faced each other at the senior level across any format. This is the first time the Himalayan neighbours will face the Men in Blue in an international game and that too in such a prestigious competition.

Nepal captain heaps praise on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

Ahead of the match, Nepal skipper Rohit Paudel expressed his admiration for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, two of the biggest names in Indian cricket. Paudel said that he and his teammates have closely followed Sharma and Kohli's respective careers, calling them "superstars" of the match. However, Paudel also said that they have plans to tackle the Indian players including Sharma and Kohli. 

"We have followed Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma’s career closely and they are superstars but we also have some plans on how to tackle them in the match," Rohit Paudel said ahead of Nepal's first-ever ODI encounter against India. 

Nepal played the opening match of the Asia Cup 2023 against Pakistan on Wednesday. They lost the game by a huge margin of 238 runs. This is the first time nepal is playing in the ACC Asia Cup. India also played their opening match against Pakistan, however, the game got washed out due to rain. Both teams were awarded one point each for the draw.

According to reports, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be unavailable for the clash against Nepal. It is being reported that Bumrah has returned to India due to some personal reasons and will not play the match against Nepal. Bumrah is expected to return to Sri Lanka for India's Super 4 matches in the Asia Cup. However, for India to qualify for the Super 4, they will have to defeat Nepal on Monday.
