'This could be my last...': R Ashwin makes a bombshell admission after World Cup inclusion

Veteran Indian cricket team spinner Ravichandran Ashwin made a last-minute entry in the Indian team's squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. Ashwin replaced injured Axar Patel, who sustained a left quadriceps strain during the 2023 Asia Cup. Adding Ashwin as a replacement has given a significant boost to the Indian team and also strengthened its bowling attack.

Ravichandran Ashwin opens up on his future plans after ODI World Cup 

Ravichandran Ashwin, while speaking in an interview with Star Sports, opened up about his plans after the 2023 ODI World Cup and believes that the CWC 2023 will be his last World Cup. Ashwin said in the interview:

Being in a good space, enjoying this tournament will keep me in good stead. This could be my last World Cup for India, so enjoying the tournament is of utmost importance.

How will R Ashwin's inclusion in the ODI World Cup squad benefit India? 

Ravichandran Ashwin is prominent for his showcase in the Test format and is currently the number-one bowler in that version of international cricket and has achieved a lot of milestones in the red ball format. However, the right-hand off-spinner who was part of the 50-over team until MS Dhoni's captaincy hasn't played much ODI cricket since Virat Kohli took over as captain.

But the off-spinner never disappointed with his performance and stood up to the expectations. Ashwin is rich in experience and has a lot of variations in his bowling. The Indian team will play spin-friendly tracks like Chennai and Lucknow, wherein Ashwin can play a pretty major role.

The Indian team has not won an ODI World Cup in the last 12 years and also have been away from an ICC title since 2013. The Rohit Sharma-led side will want to end their drought in the CWC 2023.
