Tim Paine has been leading Australia's Test team quite well for some time. After Australia's star players, Steve Smith and David Warner were banned from international cricket for their involvement in the infamous ball-tampering scandal last year, the onus of keeping the spirits of the Aussie team high was on Paine after he was named the Test captain. In his captaincy, even though the Aussies had to suffer their first-ever Test series defeat against India at home they still managed to secure a big win over the top-ranked Test side. Under his captaincy, Australia also retained the 'Urn' in the 2019 Ashes series against arch-rivals England. Meanwhile, Tim Paine has also made a tremendous impact behind the stumps.
Tim Paine takes a flying catch
Tim Paine took a flying catch behind the stumps as dived towards his left i.e. down the leg side which involved a brilliant amount of athleticism during Tasmania's Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia at the WACA Ground in Perth. Meanwhile, the wicket-keeper batsman was also among the highest scorers in the domestic competition scoring a century which also ended his 13-year drought of reaching the three-figure mark. Tim Paine’s maiden century in first-class cricket had come when now Australia head coach Justin Langer was opening the innings under the captaincy of Ricky Ponting. Tim Paine was then 21-years-old when he smashed 215 off 409 balls at the same venue against the same team. The video of Tim Paine's stunningly incredible catch was posted by Cricket Australia on their official Twitter handle. Watch it here.

Tim Paine's record in international cricket
Tim Paine was appointed Australia skipper after Steve Smith stepped down from the captaincy for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal. The 34-year-old has played 26 Tests for his side but has not been able to score a single hundred yet. He has the third-highest Test average for an Australian wicketkeeper of all time at 31.45 which is only behind Adam Gilchrist at 47.6 and Brad Haddin with 35.82. Australia's coach Justin Langer said that Steve Smith was unsure of whether the cricketer was interested in taking up the captaincy after he made his comeback post the sandpaper gate scandal.
