Only two Indian cricketers have achieved the remarkable milestone of scoring a triple century in Test cricket. The first to etch his name in the record books was the legendary opener Virender Sehwag, who accomplished this incredible feat by scoring 319 against South Africa in Chennai in March 2008. Sehwag's aggressive and fearless approach to batting was on full display during that memorable innings.

Who is the other Indian batsman to score a triple century in Tests?

The second Indian to join this exclusive club was Karun Nair, who achieved this milestone by amassing an unbeaten 303 against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in December 2016. Nair's marathon innings showcased his remarkable batting talent and cemented his place in cricketing history. These two triple centuries stand as shining examples of Indian cricketing excellence at the highest level.

Karun Nair's cricketing journey has been marked by a rollercoaster of highs and lows. His debut for the Indian national team came in an ODI against Zimbabwe in 2016, a well-deserved call-up owing to his consistent performances in domestic cricket. Despite this achievement and boasting an impressive Test average of 62.33 in six matches, Nair found himself out of the national team following some underwhelming performances in subsequent matches.          

However, Nair's cricketing journey took an inspiring turn in the 2023 County Championship Division One when he smashed his maiden century for Northamptonshire, with Surrey as the opponent. This accomplishment is particularly commendable given the fierce competition in the Championship, which involves 18 counties divided into two divisions.
