Former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad took a dig at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) amid the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The ACC received a widespread criticism for announcing a reserve day only for India vs Pakistan clash in the Super 4.

Prasad, who often shares his blunt opinions on social media, took to 'X' (formerly known as Twitter) to indirectly slam the decision-making body of the continental tournament in a cryptic post. "It takes one corrupt, arrogant guy to take away the hardwork of an otherwise non-corrupt organisation and spoil the reputation of an entire organisation & the impact isn’t just micro but at a macro level. This is true in every field, be it politics, sports, journalistm, corporate," Prasad said.

This is not the first time that Prasad has disapproved of ACC's decision. Recently, in a series of tweets, the former India cricketer stated that the organisers have made a "mockery" of the Asia Cup 2023 with their "unethical" decision.

"What was the pressure to agree on this unreasonable demand, when you aren’t getting a reserve day for your own matches?" Prasad had questioned the ACC following their announcement of awarding a reserve day to India vs Pakistan match.

"Why so much generosity to ensure India vs Pakistan isn’t washed out even if it costs your own team a chance to qualify. Can you please explain truly the intent and reason to do so? If true this is absolute shamelessness this. The organisers have made a mockery and it is unethical to have a tournament with rules being different for the other two teams. In the name of justice, will only be fair if it is abandoned the first day, may it rain harder on the second day and these malicious plans not succeed, Prasad added.

Interestingly, both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh cricket boards stated that their consent was taken before giving a reserve day to only IND vs PAK match. In the SL vs BAN Super 4 match, Sri Lanka knocked Bangladesh out of the tournament by securing a 21-run win. India and Pakistan will clash in the much-awaited Super 4 match on September 10 in Colombo. If rain plays a spoilsport on the official day, then the match will resume on September 11.
