Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019: Karnataka vs Chhattisgarh match report

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019 semi-final between Karnataka and Chhattisgarh was played today at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The final is scheduled for October 25.

After a month of quality One-Day action in the country, the ongoing 18th edition of Vijay Hazare Trophy finally reached the knock-out stage on Wednesday. In the first of two semi-final matches scheduled for the day, Karnataka faced-off against Chhattisgarh at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Reigning champions Mumbai failed to reach the final four stage after they stood fifth on the Elite Group A and B points table with just four wins out of eight games. Earlier today, Karnataka captain Manish Pandey won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019: Chhattisgarh innings

The Chhattisgarh batsmen got off to a rocky start as they lost three wickets before eleven overs for just 35 on the board. Amandeep Khare then scored a crucial 78 from 102 balls to take Chhattisgarh’s score past the 200-run mark. Koushik was the pick of the bowlers for Karnataka as the right-arm pacer picked up 4-46 in 9.4 overs. Chhattisgarh’s innings was finally halted at 223 in 49.4 overs to leave Karnataka a target of 224.

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019: Karnataka innings

Karnataka’s run-chase got off to flying start as both batsmen registered their respective List A half-centuries. Devdutt Padikkal scored a breath-taking 92 at the top of the order before he was castled by Ajay Mandal. The opening batsmen combined to form a 155-run partnership before Padikkal’s dismissal. Indian Test specialist Mayank Agarwal then joined KL Rahul to the crease and scored an unbeaten 47 from just 33 balls. KL Rahul himself scored a fluent 88 not out to see his side to victory in 40 overs.

2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy Final

As Tamil Nadu defeated Gujarat in the second semi-final, Karnataka will now face Tamil Nadu for the title clash on October 25. The final match is scheduled to start at 9:00 AM and will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
