The fourth season of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) commenced on Friday as the 2017 winners Chepauk Super Gillies hosted the last year's runners-up Dindigul Dragons at Dindigul on Friday. The Super Gillies were led by Kaushik Gandhi instead of Vijay Shankar who is yet to recover from the toe injury which had ended his World Cup dreams last month while the Dragons were led by their charismatic skipper Ravichandran Ashwin.

Speaking about R Ashwin, he once again made an impact in the season opener with the ball. No, it had nothing to do with that infamous 'Mankading' incident which he was involved in earlier this year during Kings XI Punjab's IPL match against Rajasthan Royals. In fact, this time, the veteran off-spinner was involved in a funny incident with his bizarre bowling action.

This happened in the final over of the contest. On the fourth delivery with the Chepauk side needing 17 runs off the final two deliveries, it was only a formality for the former champions. Therefore, Ashwin decided to end the proceedings in an innovative manner by bowling in a half-arm action where he delivered the ball without a follow-through. Not only did it leave all the viewers puzzled but it also ended up grabbing the attention of the netizens.
