RCB skipper Virat Kohli has added yet another feather to his cap by going past Suresh Raina to become the highest run-getter in IPL. He achieved this feat against Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday. The official handle of Indian Premier League celebrated the occasion by dedicating a tweet for the RCB skipper. Take a look:
Kohli was 60 runs behind to achieve this feat and ultimately chased it in style.
RCB was put into bat by KKR after Dinesh Karthik had won the toss and decided to bat. RCB began on a strong note as Kohli and Parthiv Patel stitched-in a 64 run opening stand. Even after Parthiv's dismissal, the skipper continued to keep the scoreboard ticking by piling on runs with AB de Villiers. Both of them added 108 runs for the second wicket. AB de Villiers scored a 32-ball 63.
Kohli was eventually dismissed after a gritty knock off after he reached a score of 84 runs of 49-ball at a strike rate-171.43, which included nine boundaries and two sixes. His gritty knock helped RCB post a huge total of 205/3 in their 20 overs. Kohli now has 5110 runs in 168 matches and 160 innings while Suresh Raina is right behind him with 5086 runs in 180 matches and 176 innings.
Netizens congratulated the captain for reaching this landmark.
