Indian skipper Virat Kohli was extremely happy with the team's bowling, especially with the star of the day Jasprit Bumrah, who picked up a hat-trick and finished his spell on Day two with figures of 16 runs and six wickets from nine overs. Jasprit Bumrah became the third Indian bowler to pick up a hat-trick in the longer format of the game after Harbhajan Singh in 2001 and Irfan Pathan in 2006. In a manner, Jasprit Bumrah owed his hat-trick credit to the skipper as it was Kohli and Rahane's crucial call to take the review that allowed Jasprit Bumrah to get his third scalp and etch his name in the records yet again. While Jasprit bumrah reduced the Windies to a mere double-digit score with the loss of six wickets, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja put pressure on the West Indies batting, not allowing them to push forward.

Skipper Kohli all praises for Jasprit Bumrah

India's skipper Virat Kohli couldn't have asked for a better performance from his bowlers as India managed to reduce West Indies to 87-7 at the end of Day two. Jasprit Bumrah ripped through the West Indies batting order and left them battered at the end of the day's play. Virat Kohli was all praises for Japrit Bumrah, who picked a fifer in the first Test and followed up with a hat-trick in the second Test. In a post-match interview that was anchored by Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah revealed that he owed the hat-trick to skipper Virat Kohli as it was the skipper's call to take the review which overturned the decision of the umpire. Jasprit Bumrah said that he did not appeal hard enough as he felt that the ball had hit the bat and not the pads. Jasprit Bumrah also credited the rest of the bowling unit for supporting his attack. Bumrah said that there was good communication between the bowlers in the team and that all of them backed each other on the field. Virat Kohli was extremely impressed with Jasprit bumrah and admitted that it felt great to have a bowler who could pick up ten plus wickets in a match consistently. Watch the interview here:

Vihari scores maiden ton

Skipper Virat Kohli made a special mention of Vihari during his interview with Bumrah for the spectacular knock played by the latter. Earlier, Vihari scored a career-best 111 off 225 balls with the help of 16 boundaries to held India's innings together. Together with Ishant (57 off 80 balls), who scored his maiden fifty, Vihari shared 112 runs off 28.3 overs for the eighth wicket to take India forward. While Vihari looked rock-solid, Ishant gave him the perfect support from the other end as the duo frustrated the West Indian bowlers for a long time. The hosts needed 140.1 overs to bowl out the visitors. Coming on to bat at the overnight score of 42, Vihari stuck to his task and held one end together to keep India afloat after being sent into bat. Resuming at the overnight score of 264 for five, India lost Rishabh Pant (27) on the opening delivery of the day. Pant was cleaned up by Holder (5/77) with an inswinger as the batsman leaned for a drive. Thereafter, overnight batsman Vihari and the new man in Ravindra Jadeja played according to the situation to nullify any threat from the West Indies bowlers. Vihari, who resumed his knock at 42, notched up his fifty in 96 balls with the help of an inside-edge boundary off Holder in the 97th over of the innings. Jadeja did all the hard work but gave away his wicket when it mattered. He played a patient knock of 16 off 69 balls but just when it was time to carry on, he top-edged a Rahkeem Cornwall (3/105) delivery to Bravo at mid-on while going for a big slog. Vihari and Jadeja shared 38 runs off exactly 10 overs for the seventh wicket. An over later, Vihari got a big reprieve when he was dropped by Campbell off Cornwall at first slip. To add to West Indies' wounds, Vihari picked up two boundaries in the remaining balls of Cornwall's over. Vihari and Ishant continued to frustrate the West Indian bowlers after lunch with their resolute batting.
